Distraction of the Week: Dumping European Factionalism

Who's Afraid of the Panama Papers?

Posted by Disassembled Podcast on May 4, 2016

On today’s episode we begin by discussing the upcoming dump of new “Panama Papers” and their impact on a Eurozone weakened by almost a decade of financial crisis. As broader divisions of Europe begin to clash, the potential for economic and cultural integration of post-Soviet Eastern Europe into the Western system is also coming into doubt. Meanwhile, the EU is also in a major state of demographic change as the refugee crisis continues with no end in sight, causing some member states to rethink both the Schengen Agreement and EU membership. As Europe continues to weaken, will this push more fringe parties to call for anti-EU referendum like the Brexit next month?
